Ebonized Finish • Deeply Ornate Carved Wooden Panels
We are incredibly proud to present a breathtakingly rare piece of 19th-century musical history: a magnificent 55-inch Steinway & Sons upright piano (Serial #47778). Built in 1881, this monumental instrument stands at an impressive 55 inches tall, allowing for a massive soundboard and extended string length that delivers a remarkably rich, robust, and full-bodied acoustic tone. The exterior is a true work of art, featuring an original ebonized black finish highlighted by spectacular, deeply ornate carved wooden front panels backed by elegant contrasting cloth.
The classic fallboard proudly displays the historic "Steinway & Sons. Patent. New York." branding. Internally, this piano showcases the brand's legendary engineering, including the heavy-duty cast-iron plate marked with the "Steinway Foundry Composite Metal Casting" insignia and the original serial number stamped directly into the wood.
